December 15, 2014

$4,000 awarded to fund English Language Learners in Teton School District #401 Elementary Schools

Teton Springs Foundation awarded $4,000 to Teton Valley Education Foundation (TVEF) to fund program initiatives at Teton School District elementary schools.   The funds were awarded to support an enhanced English Language Learners (ELL) curriculum and materials.

Today, English Language Learners (ELL) students make up 22% of Teton School District’s student body.  The grant will provide funding to support new curriculum and help close achievement gaps between ELL students and non-ELL students.

Kathryn Brown, ELL Program Director commented the Teton Springs Foundation gift will enable a more comprehensive ELL program and provide our students better access to English Language development.  This will ultimately allow students to become proficient in English and further support academic progress and success.

Diane Temple, TVEF Executive Director added, “we are grateful to the Teton Springs Foundation’s for their ongoing support of quality public school education. We appreciate all they do, not only for TVEF, but all the other non-profit grant awards they have funded that translates to a quality community.”

Since 2001, Teton Springs Foundation has been contributing to the community by carrying out its mission of enhancing the quality of life for valley residents by awarding grants to local nonprofits. Funded primarily by proceeds from resort real estate sales, the Foundation is governed by a board made up of local community members. More than 30 area non-profits have benefitted from their generosity and awards have enabled local charities to provide area residents with enhanced services in the following areas: health and human services, education, the environment, art and culture, and sports and recreation.

Teton Valley Education Foundation (TVEF) mission is to enhance opportunities for excellence in Teton School District (TSD) 401 through educational programs and community partnerships.   To find out more about the Teton Valley Education Foundation, visit www.tetoneducation.com or email, dtemple@d401.k12.id.us.
